The graphic below shows the apparent movement of the sun at summer solstice, the equinoxes and winter solstice for (from top to bottom) the North Pole, 71°N, 22.44°N and the equator. Scroll through the figures and compare the Sun's paths.
To visualize the sun's movement as seen in the southern hemisphere you have to continue tilting the apparent path of the sun to the right. You will then see that in the southern hemisphere the sun rises in the east, is seen in the north at noon and sets in the west.
