Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi


The Japanese animated movie of 2001 Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi ("Spirited Away" or the Voyage of Chihiro) by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli was an outstanding success around the world. It has been called "arguably the most famous anime film of all time" and was seen by one sixths of Japan's population. It received an Oscar for best animated feature and rave reviews. It was not made specifically for a western audience and conveyed a very Japanese flair of river, wood and water spirits; yet millions in America and Europe were enthralled by it.
